FAQ
What does ‘your business is our business’ mean?

It means that we take the time to get to know you, your employees, and your business. This helps us tailor the HR support you may need. It also means that we will never provide any client with the same policy, we tailor it to what is important to you.

After review, we will understand your business, your HR needs and may even prompt you about an upcoming maternity or identify recurring themes that we are seeing (like high sickness absence which can become costly!)

We are invested in supporting your business to thrive and we are passionate about you having the right type of HR support to do this.

So, how does us using Nectar HR work?

It is as easy you want it to be! We are here if you need legally compliant HR support and advice. We are all CIPD qualified, and we have extensive HR experience working across a wide range of industries.

To get an idea of the type of work we do, please read our case studies.

You are in charge of how much you work with us, you decide if you want to use an hour of our time, if you want us to support or lead a project (such as redundancy, some in house recruitment), or you may want to sign up to a retainer with us (our contracts ask for one month’s notice so you can easily adapt to suit your business needs)

We adopt this approach because we want to work with businesses who chose to work with us, we are not interested in tying you in to long term contracts, we want you to be in control.

What kind of businesses do you work with?

Any size (from literally 1 employee to multi nationals!) We have experience of working across a range of industries and extensive HR knowledge, making it easy for us to advise clients whatever their size or industry. If you want to know what some of our clients say about us, we have asked some of them to provide testimonials.

I signed up for a couple of hours’ time and now I want to increase to a retainer. What do I do?

You simply need to speak to your assigned HR Consultant who can advise you on the next steps.

I am on a retainer, but I need more hours one month vs another. Can you help?

Yes! We give you the option to roll over a percentage of hours a month for up to three months, or you can if you wish purchase additional time at the same rate. This helps if one month is not particularly busy, but you have some additional needs later down the line. We try to be as flexible as we can to support you and your business.

What kind of services do you provide?

We can be your HR department, or we can support ad-hoc, you are in control, and you decide what works best for you. We’ve detailed all our services on the website, and you can also contact us directly.

If you would like to read a little more about work, we have undertaken, you can read some of our interesting case studies.

How do you work out what HR support I need?

Our first hour is always free and our preference is that we use this time with our free HR health check.

Our HR health check helps us to work with you and understand where you need support. We take the time to feed this back to you (also for free) and you can then decide if you would like to start work on looking at the area’s we have identified.

We already have in-house HR, why do we need this service?

Good question! Some of our larger clients have in house HR but still use our services in lots of ways, for example, advice on a particularly difficult issue such as settlement agreement negotiations, fact finding investigations, or you may want some really specific advice that needs some higher level input. In some cases, the in-house HR team may not have enough capacity to deal with a specific issue and ask us to step in and support.

How much does it cost?

Our first hour is always free and we prefer to use this time with our free HR health check.

We have a variety of options for you to choose how you want to work with us which includes:

  • Hourly rate
  • Monthly retainer (you only need to give us one month’s notice if you choose to terminate)
  • An agreed price for unique templates designed for your business, we have a suite of HR policy support, but this could be a staff handbook, contract of employment, disciplinary or grievance policy, etc. The list is endless!
Do you have a call centre approach?

We get asked this a lot and the answer is very simple. NO! We pride ourselves on offering a unique, person centred approach. We get to know our clients and they get to know us. You will have one point of contact and one named HR Consultant who supports you. You will have their email address and mobile number. The feedback about this from our clients has been very positive, and we believe if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!

Do you offer training?

Yes! You may have a suite of policies which is great, but no line managers are trained on how to use them, which is not so great! We will support you with easy-to-follow line management training which we will deliver. We are not fans of a talk and listen approach so we will break up the training with smaller workshops and training plus provide all the training material for delegates.

Why should I not just hire someone to do my HR as an employee?

Not to keep going on about how professional we are but…

Without setting up a full HR department (which takes time and expertise) it is difficult to replicate the service we offer to our valued clients. Our advice ranges from strategic support to templated letters, policies, and everything in between. You are also in control of how much you use us, we are an outsourced service so there are no additional on costs like annual leave, pension etc. to consider and you always get the right level of support that you need.

What geographical areas do you cover?

All of them! We have worked with clients all over the UK. How? We work virtually! If there is one thing the pandemic has taught us it is that we can very easily work virtually and still support you with the best HR service.

How can you support us virtually?

Working virtually means we can support you in many ways, from email advice to virtual meetings and training. We are not always virtual, sometimes our client’s preference is for us to visit them on site, and we can of course arrange this. The pandemic has taught us that we can work virtually with no impact on our service or your business.
