At Nectar HR, we have an incredibly skilled team who are extremely passionate about providing the very best HR services & solutions.
We are all CIPD qualified and have a combined total of 50 years’ worth of HR experience across a wealth of different industries. We can provide our clients with a comprehensive HR service, a deep well of HR knowledge and expert advice in all areas of HR.
Sonia Rai, Founder and Managing Director
Sonia started Nectar HR initially in 2011 but took an 18-month break in 2014 due to personal circumstances. In 2016 Sonia relaunched Nectar HR and the business continues to go from strength to strength.
Sonia worked part-time in HR from 2000 whilst studying and graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 2003 with a degree in Human Resources and Marketing. She went on to complete a Masters in Human Resources and Business from Aston University, obtaining CIPD accreditation in 2004.
Sonia has worked in some large corporate organisations and has a vast amount of experience from strategic and board level HR right down to understanding administrative HR processes. She has worked across a wide range of industries from banking and construction to health and social care and is an expert in regulated industries such as health care and education.
Sonia loves talking to new clients about their HR needs and ensuring that the Nectar HR team add value to our clients every step of the way. Sonia is very passionate about ‘doing HR properly’ and her pet hate is generic, off the shelf HR. Sonia also does not believe in lengthy contracts with our clients, instead offering flexible solutions that best meet the needs of our valued clients.
Grace Pariser, HR Consultant
Grace joined the Nectar HR team in February 2022. She has several HR qualifications including most recently a Master of Arts in Human Resources Management from the University of Plymouth, accredited by the human resources professional body, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Grace has worked for corporate organisations in both London and Plymouth, but has decided to move across to consulting in order to fulfil her passion of putting the human back into HR, and to demonstrate to clients what HR is capable of bringing to an organisation.
Grace is a military wife based in Plymouth, Devon, a proud mummy of one hectic toddler and two fur babies, cats Lexi and Sheldon. She loves all things tech, Formula 1, baking and eating sweet treats and can tell you most things about the Tudors and the Harry Potter series.
Jiya Kaur – HR Consultant
Jiya Kaur joined the Nectar HR team in February 2022 as a HR Consultant. Jiya holds a master’s in Economics and is also CIPD Level 5, by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Jiya has worked for corporate organisations across many sectors and has a wealth of experience across all areas of the employee life cycle. Jiya has fundamental knowledge and experience in policy development, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, process improvement, and absence management to name but a few.
As well as all of her accreditations, Jiya is a trained mediator and can support building relationships in dispute scenarios. Jiya is also a mental health first aider and supports our clients with this.
Jiya decided to move to HR consulting to practice her knowledge in human and organisational behaviour. Jiya enjoys creating tailored business solutions, drawing on insights to the ’human’ side of the employment relationship.
Jiya is a keen painter, particularly Canvas Art and we are hoping to commission some pieces for the Nectar HR Office! As well as Canvas painting, Jiya loves to sketch so you may well see some of her sketches pop up on our social media.
As well as a love all things artistic, Jiya loves keeping herself up to date with technology. She is fast becoming our Excel expert and she likes to solve client people problems with the help of software and technology.
Janice Wilson – HR Support
Janice joined Nectar HR in December 2021 part time to broaden her HR skills further in different sectors. She gained her CIPD Level 3 in June 2020 whilst working as an HR Administrator/Coordinator for one of the UK’s largest GP Partnerships.
She splits her time between HR, swimming teaching, family and volunteering for Girlguiding both as a Leader and DBS verifier.
Working as HR support, Janice supports in all areas of the employee life cycle.
Janice is also experienced in HR administration duties and working with HR generalist matters, which has helped her gain a well-rounded understanding of Human Resources.
Janice is particularly skilled at recruitment processes including onboarding new starters where there are strict regulated requirements and she is also passionate about employee wellbeing within the workplace.
Laura Fox, HR Associate
Laura joined the Nectar HR team in November 2019.
She graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 2012 with a CIPD Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management.
Laura’s career has spanned a wide variety of industries, with her starting out in construction and expanding into manufacturing, rail and tramway, healthcare and education, and hospitality. Laura has worked both in the UK and in an international remit.
As our resident employee relations expert, Laura is particularly skilled at supporting clients with complex disciplinary and grievance cases. She also loves a good change management project, and enjoys getting her hands dirty with implementing HR policies and processes for new clients.
Carol Higgs, HR Associate
Carol joined the Nectar HR team as a HR Consultant on a more permanent basis in July 2020 after working on an ad-hoc basis since 2017. Carol graduated from the University of Gloucestershire in 2003 with a degree in Business and HR Management and then further study at Stafford University with a CIPD level 7 post graduate qualification in 2014. She resumed her role as a HR Associate after securing a new role in 2021.
Carol has spent her entire career in the world of HR. Working around her family, Carol has worked in a variety of industries, including, retail, hospitality, estates management, health care, education, and logistics. Carol is somewhat of a CQC and OFSTED inspection specialist and has vast experience in supporting our clients in regulated industries through both small- and large-scale inspections.
As an HR Associate Carol aids our clients with her methodical approach and expert knowledge in data analysis. Carol loves working with spreadsheets and is our resident expert when it comes to complex annual leave calculations or making sense of complex data such as sickness or retention stats – and she’s our go-to for a part-time holiday calculation!
